Boulevard Place is a named block area in the south central portion of Butler-Tarkington along the streetcar corridor, platted in the early 1900s with middle class bungalows and narrow two story homes built close to the street. Windows in these homes were originally single pane wood double hungs; many were retrofitted with aluminum storm windows in the 1960s and 1970s, which are now themselves aging and failing. Replacement projects in this area frequently involve removing both the original wood sash and the exterior storm window layer before installing full frame insulated replacement units.
